School Reunification System Software is the only way to manage reunification and custody exchange.

School Reunification System Software, can help you stop wondering what you need to do after a critical event. How are you going to manage reunification? What can you do?

Imagine you are the parent after a critical event, waiting like everyone else to reunite with your child. Wondering why she has not texted you back. Beginning to worry as the ambulances pull out of the school. Could that be her? Is she alright? Are her cellphone batteries dead? Is she ok? Why won’t she answer me back?

Then imagine what it must be like as the teachers and administrators who have just gone through that event — try to organize all the parents so that they you can reunite everyone with their child. Making certain that each child after an event — that has changed their lives forever — is brought back safely home by the right person.

What is the one thing you want to count on? What is the one thing that will bring order to chaos? What is the one thing that can get these kids home safely?

How do a School Reunification System Software help you create a strong process?

When Kornukopia went into the drawing board on how to develop a tool for reunification, we knew one thing, reunification tools had to work. Reunification had to be simple. That it could not be the first time the process was used.

So, How? Critical events don’t happen every day, as a matter of fact you hope they never, ever happen at all.

School Reunification System Software is the orderly exchange and documentation of custody

Then it occurred to us. Reunification does happen every day at school, it is simply called dismissal management.

  • Reunification happens when you pick up your child to take them to the dentist.
  • Reunification happens when you pick up your child in the car line.
  • Reunification happens even when your child gets on the bus and off the bus.
  • Reunification happens when you pick up your child from a game or a field trip.

Reunification is simply stated an organized and documented process of exchanging custody of the child between the school and the parent.

School Reunification System Software requires some basic things:

1Schools need to match up the child with the parent or the delegate who is responsible for taking them home.

2Schools need to make sure when they do that they document the transfer of custody, with some type of record.

3Parents cannot always be available to pick-up their child, so parents need to delegate the pick-up of the child to another person/parent.

4Students may not be able to be picked-up or additional verification, information or supervision may be required in order to transfer custody (Reunification). We call this escalating a student. Escalation allows for a flag on the students record, some notes, and additional approval/verification/supervision before the child or the information about the child is released to the parent. It’s the right thing to do, and escalation happens in ordinary dismissal more often than you think.

So, what is being done today, with School Reunification System Software?

Most schools don’t document very much at all, so when they have to manage a reunification, it’s chaos. Some schools rely on a paper process, and implement that process on the fly in a reunification scenario (as long as the paper is available). A few schools use specialized dedicated software for dismissal management.

What if there was a way?

In car line to:

  • Manage car line so that you can document online the order of the cars?
  • You can organize the order of the parents and what students they are going to pick-up.
  • You can check-out students when they are released to their parents.
  • Parents could document and agree online with documentation that they are agreeing to delegate pick-up to another parent.
  • You could mark student pick-up records with an “Escalate” flag so that students with special needs, situations that might greater care, or special attention could be taken during a specific students dismissal.

In bus transport to:

  • Identify which students got on a bus and when.
  • Identify which students got off a bus, what longitude and latitude and when.

In the case of exception dismissals to:

  • Identify who picked up at student.
  • When they picked up the student.

In the case of field trips or team/sport/club trips to:

  • Check students into the custody of a person, group or event.
  • Check students out of custody when they reach their destination.
  • Check them in again when they return home.
  • Check them out again when they are returned to their parents.

In the case of evacuations or shelters to:

  • Check students into the custody of a person, group or event.
  • Check them out again when they are returned to their parents.

IDentifyED is the way.

How does IDentifyED Reunification work?

1Students can check into a course, place, event, group, bus or even with a person (we call this a “location”). Users’ can even create their own locations like: “Home”, “Office”, and “My Favorite Place”. Yes, parents that means that students can tell you when they get home.

2Teachers, coaches and others can use the IDentifyED app to look-up and/or scan user IDs to identify and check students in on their behalf to their custody or to a specific location.

3Once checked in their “location” is available to anyone who has the privilege of seeing the students’ portfolio (their social networking and communication central dashboard). It’s also available to security and administration.

4Bus Driver’s can check students into their bus, and when they do they can identify the time and the longitude/latitude of the event.

5Bus Driver’s can check students off their bus, and when they do they can identify the time and the longitude/latitude of the event.

6If the student needs help and makes a help request this detailed check-in information as part of the help request so that emergency responders can respond quicker and with greater accuracy. It’s not just a 20 story building, it’s floor 4, room 6.

7A student can then check-in to many locations for attendance and for other reasons as they progress through their day (any user can do this).

  • Users’ can also be checked out of a location.
  • If a user has the permission they can check themselves out of a location. For a member of staff, or if a professor is checking out of office hours.

8If a parent wants to delegate another parent to be able to check their student out, they can make a delegation request. If the other parent agrees they are now able to pick up that student. If the parent declines or the requesting parent rescinds the request, the other parent no longer has the authority.

9Students’ sometimes have special needs, may have special circumstances, or require that more care be taken during the reunifcation and custody exchange process. For that reason, Kornukopia created “Escalate” and “Override”. Escalate allows a person with this permission to place a flag on the student’s record with a note. An escalate override request has to be made and approved in order to check that student out (or if they are unable to check the student out, bring that to the attention of staff).

Top reasons why IDentifyED’s reunification system is the best.

  • Only Reunification Tool that complies and integrates with “The I love You Guys Foundation”, Standard Reunification Procedures.
  • Only Reunification tool that provides a dismissal system that allows you to manage carlines, bus lines, and exception-based dismissal, so reunification is tested and used daily, not just in an emergency.
  • The best and most complete custody system that can be used for field trips, sporting events, location services, and in emergency situations for reunification.
  • The best and most complete escalation and delegation system that allows for strong communication and excellent documentation.
  • Best and most complete campus-wide solution set in which the reunification process is one of the many phases and tools used to document a critical event.

Reunification API

Reunification API has a simple and powerful set of APIs so that 3rd parties with the proper credentials can interact with IDentifyED’s reunificaiton system:

The reunification APIs allow validation delegation between 2 parents.

The reunification API allows validation and escalation of an individual.

The reunification API allows information as to who has been checked out, checked in, the exact current last check-in and other critical information.

What is holding you back from School Reunification System Software?

  • Each day you go without a good custody exchange and dismissal system your school and students are at risk.
  • Reunification is difficult without good tools you will find the task even harder.
  • You cannot predict when you will need to have a custody exchange reunification event, so every day without it is risky.

Visualization

Before

  • You may have created a custody exchange reunification procedure; do you have the paper forms that you may need? When would those get printed? After the event?
  • You cannot track or document when a student leaves your custody.
  • Car lines are difficult to maintain.
  • You don’t know when or where a student leaves a bus.
  • You have no online system to track custody during a field trip or sporting event trip.

After

  • You can document each and every custody exchange.
  • After a critical event, you have a tool that everyone is familiar with to manage custody exchange reunification.
  • You have a tool to document custody exchange.
  • You have a tool to manage parent delegation, and student escalation.
  • You have a tool to manage both car line and bus dismissal.
  • You have a tool that allows you to document all custody exchange reunification steps and events for any type of litigation.
